Training on GLBT Tobacco Issues

GLBT Tobacco TrainingDC Tobacco Free Families and the Mautner Project are hosting a one-day training on GLBT Tobacco issues April 20th, 2009. The training takes place from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM at Mautner Project, 1875 Connecticut Ave NW Suite 710. 

GLBT Tobacco Experts Bob Gordon and Gloria Soliz will present on a variety of topics including interactive activities that are relevant to the GLBT community, how the tobacco industry targets the GLBT community and our response, and a vareity of policy issues for the GLBT community.

Mautner Project Internship Opportunities

Mautner ProjectMautner Project, the National Lesbian Health Organization, is in need of some great interns.  Our organization is dedicated to improving the health of lesbian, bisexual, and transgender women who partner with women through outreach, education, research, and direct client services.  Our interns work on a variety of projects including:

Outreach and Events.  Interns help organize and run outreach and fundraising events of all sizes, from galas to health fairs. 

Education. Interns help educate others through promotional materials, training seminars, and other events. 

Research.Internsassist with the details of major research projects including participant recruitment, focus group facilitation, data entry and analysis. 

Direct Services.  Interns help organize volunteers for clients with life-altering illnesses.  These volunteers and interns provide support over the telephone or in person, and assist daily living assistance such as transportation to a doctor’s appointment, child care, pet care, grocery shopping, etc. 

Administrative Support. Interns assist with clerical details, data entry, document and web design, and telephone support.  

Interns will acquire all these resume-building skills and more while working with a fabulous and fun community of colleagues and clients.

Mautner’s Annual Gala Dinner, Dance & Auction

danceThe Mautner Project provides direct services for women who partner with women(WPW) living in the Washington, D.C. Metro area and around the country; the Mautner Project provides technical assistance and capacity building for lesbian and lesbian friendly health projects nationwide; it provides lesbi-bi-trans focused health education and outreach to a variety of audiences; and it serves lesbi-bi-trans women health advocacy through health coalitions, education and training.

Here is another way to show your support and commitment to our community.

For those that have never been it is a dress to impress affair, it starts with a silent auction were you can sip your cocktail while wandering through the auction room perusing the various items that up for auction. I find there is always something of interest.

Soon the bell sounds for dinner you will be seated in the dinning room, and while having dinner there will speeches then a small live auction which is always fun and entertaining. Once that is done the real fun begins with dancing and socializing for a few hours.
