kayakWho needs Starbucks to wake up in the morning. How about a nice relaxing morning on the water in a slow moving kayak floating down the Occoquan chatting away with friends. If your a perky person in the AM you can talk someone into a quick race. What  better way to start off your Saturday morning.

Join Equality Fairfax at Fountainhead Regional Park for a good day on the water. It is calm and the scenery beautiful, perfect for beginners and nice for experienced kayakers as well. A great opportunity for your first kayak experience.

We’ll meet at 8:30 prompt at the rental building at the marina. We should be ready to launch by 9:00 am.

We are starting early before it gets too hot and to make sure that we can get the kayaks as reservations for the kayaks are not accepted by the park.

Kayaks are for rent at the park — $7 per hour, life vest flat fee of $3.00 or bring your own. There is a very easy in and out for launching the kayaks. There are also canoes available to rent. Don’t forget to bring some water to drink. Folks with their own kayaks are more than welcome to join in.

After we kayak, for those who wish to go, we will be going to the Austin Grill off of Old Keene Mill Road in Springfield for brunch.

For information on the park and directions go to  Fountainhead website.

For more information about the kayak outing, email info@equalityfairfax.org.

kayakA relaxing morning on the water in a kayak.  What’s a better way to start off your Saturday morning.  Join EF for a kayak outing at Fountainhead Regional Park, paddling on the Bull Run Occoquan stream.  The water is calm and the scenery beautiful, perfect for beginners and nice for experienced kayakers as well.

Kayaks are for rent at the park — $7 per hour, or bring your own. There is a very easy in and out for launching the kayaks. As there is a limited number of kayaks for rent, space is limited to the first 8 people who RSVP to sarah@equalityfairfax.org

We are starting early before it gets too hot and to make sure that we can get the kayaks as reservations for the kayaks are not accepted by the park.

Look for Kim and Maura, who will be our hosts.

There are lots of places to stop along the way, so bring some snacks and water.  We’ll meet at 8am prompt at the rental building at the marina.
