Opportunities to be involved to DEFEAT the Marshall/Newman Amendment

In order to defeat the Marshall/Newman amendment at the polls, we are going to have to come out as a community like we never have before. Part of that effort will be having a presence at the fairs throughout Fairfax County all during the spring, summer and fall of 2006.

Simply by being at these fairs we show the larger community that we're real people who aren't so different from them. It's easy for people who have no perceived personal stake in the outcome to vote for intolerance because it isn't aimed at them or anyone they know. By meeting them and talking with them, we can make a connection that gives them a personal stake in the outcome and makes them much more likely to make sure they get out to the polls to vote.

Here are the list of upcoming fairs. Each day has it's own page and you can sign up to volunteer for a day by selecting the 'volunteer' link on it's page. You can also volunteer for a particular event by sending email to volunteer@equalityfairfax.org.

Shifts at most events are two hours, but we can accomodate longer shifts. Please sign up for as many events as you can participate in! If you don't know now what events you can participate in but want us to contact you as we get closer to each event to see if you can participate, send an email to volunteer@equalityfairfax.org.

The attachments at the bottom of this page are some of the material we will be using at the fairs.

Keep your eye on this page because we will also be summarizing the other volunteering opportunities as they become finalized.
