Join EF for a hike in the woods. It’s a lovely walk along the Occoquan River. We’ll meet at Hemlock Overlook Regional Park near Clifton and then hike down a hillside to the river and then walk along the trail with beautiful views of the river. The hike is about 1 1/2 hours, mainly flat but is hilly at the start and finish. A great way to walk off your Thanksgiving feast.
After the hike we can enjoy some cold sodas and snacks in the picnic pavilion (and anything other folks want to bring along).
Dogs are very welcome! (the park requires dogs to be leashed). Lots of spots off the river for dogs for swimming.
We’ll meet at the education center right off the parking lot at 12pm. Look for the EF sign. RSVPs to info@equalityfairfax.org appreciated so we know to look for you.

On
Tuesday, June 9th, the Democratic party’s primary will be held to decide the Democratic candidate for governor and lieutenant governor.
In addition, two Fairfax County districts have races to decide the Democratic candidate for delegate – the 35th and 38th districts. The 35th district covers Vienna and part of Fairfax, while the 38th district covers parts of Falls Church, Annandale and Linconia.
Equality Fairfax sent a questionnaire to the candidates in these districts to ask them about their support of important GLBT issues. We’ve prepared a compilation of their opinions and comments to help you decide who best would represent you in your district – you can find it below. Please make sure you vote!
Republican primaries were also called but no contests have resulted. Republicans will nominate their candidates for governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general at a party convention.

Another year, another picnic. Spend an afternoon with Equality Fairfax at our 7th Annual Summer Picnic at Nottoway Park in Vienna.
Got kids? bring em! Got a dog? Bring em! Got a partner/husband/wife/friend bring them too – everyone is welcome. Meet some new friends; touch base with some old ones that you may not have seen in a year.
When was the last time you played picnic games? Watch the kids (or adults) try to run in the three legged race, see who gets the wettest during the water balloon toss.
EF provides the buns, ketchup, chips, cookies, potato salad and sodas/waters. You bring your burger, chicken or veggie pattie. And if you have a killer cole slaw, please feel free to bring along too.
The picnic area is very well shaded, so even if it really hot, there’s a cool spot. Park rules prohibit alcohol.
We’re in the covered pavilion, just off the first right from the entrance road. Look for the balloons!
Hope to see you at the picnic this summer!
