Fairfax County now has its own winery! Paradise Springs Winery offers tastings in an authentic log cabin dating from the early 1800′s, which was renovated in 1955 by a protégé of Frank Lloyd Wright. The winery is located in Clifton, in a scenic location adjacent to Hemlock Regional Park.
Equality Fairfax has arranged for a private tasting — seven wines, a mixture of whites and reds, and we get to keep the glass. Tasting fee is $10 per person. Cheese, crackers, meats and other snack food are available for purchase.
Our winery visit will be Saturday, September 25th at 2pm. We hope you can join us — this will be a fun event. We need to provide the winery with a headcount estimate, so we’d appreciate an RSVP at info@equalityfairfax.org.
It’s time again for a delectable favorite – Sunday brunch! Come join Equality Fairfax and friends at the Blue Iguana for great company and good times.
The Blue Iguana has a brunch buffet that includes carving and omelet stations. Or, if you prefer, there’s also a traditional menu including salads and sandwiches. Browse their menu here. The restaurant is located in the Fair Lakes shopping area.
If you’d like to join us, please send us an RSVP at info@equalityfairfax.org so we can get an approximate head-count.

Mark your calendar and save the date. Join us at Equality Fairfax’s 9th Annual Summer Picnic at Nottoway Park in Vienna.
Meet some new friends; touch base with some old ones that you may not have seen in awhile. A great way to spend a summer afternoon. There will be lots of fun for people of all ages — the infamous egg toss and water balloon toss will be back again this year. Dogs are welcome too.
Our spot in the park has plenty of shade from the trees or areas for enjoying the sun too. Good cover in the event of less than perfect weather. Lots of room to eat and mingle.
Bring your meat/veggies to BBQ and a lawn/beach chair if you’d like to lounge (there are picnic tables). We will supply drinks, charcoal, buns, side dishes, paper products and condiments.
This is a very nice community event - you’ll be glad you came by.
We’ll be in the picnic area off the first parking lot to the right after you enter the park.
Join EF for a hike in the woods on Sunday April 18th. It’s a lovely walk along the Occoquan River. We’ll meet at Hemlock Overlook Regional Park near Clifton and then hike down a hillside to the river and then walk along the trail with beautiful views of the river. The hike is about 1 1/2 hours, mainly flat but is hilly at the start and finish. The spring flowers should be out in bloom!
After the hike we can enjoy some cold sodas and snacks in the picnic pavilion (and anything other folks want to bring along).
Dogs and kids are very welcome! (the park requires dogs to be leashed – children can run free). There are lots of spots off the river for dogs for swimming.
We’ll meet at the education center right off the parking lot at 12pm. Look for the EF sign. RSVPs to info@equalityfairfax.org are appreciated so we know to look for you.
Spring has finally arrived! Let’s celebrate the warm days to come with Equality Fairfax’s first happy hour of the year. We’ll be gathering at Brion’s Grille in Fairfax beginning at 6pm. There’s a good spot in front of the bar with plenty of room to mingle.
Brion’s Grille is in University Mall Shopping Center just off Rt 123 and Braddock Road. Please come out and join us!
Join Equality Fairfax for an evening of community –a Sunday evening of friends and food. A chance to socialize with old friends, meet new people and enjoy some tasty food.
This will be our 6th Annual Potluck at the Greenbriar, a wonderful community center with a fireplace.
Bring your friends and family and your favorite dish to share with others. We’ll provide sodas and waters. Alcohol is allowed for those who like to bring wine or beer.
The Greenbriar can be easily missed as the entrance is not well marked — if you are going north on Stringfellow Road, the entrance is on the left just past Melville Road — about 100 yards.

This is a special election for the Senate seat currently held by KenCuccinelli. Senator Cuccinelli is vacating the seat because he was elected to be attorney general in the November election.
The candidates are:
David Marsden (currently serving as Delegate of House District 41)
Stephen Hunt (former Fairfax County school board member)
We are hoping each candidate will participate in a podcast to answer questions.
Senate District 37 runs from West Springfield in the southeast through Burke to Centreville and Chantilly. For a map of the district, look here.
With a new year comes a new meeting of Virgina’s General Assembly in Richmond. Each year Equality Fairfax participates with Equality Virginia in Lobby Day – an opportunity for us to visit our legislators in Richmond and discuss legislation and issues. This is a significant chance to:
Advocate for pro-equality laws for all LGBT people in Virginia
Make our legislators aware that we’re here and we care about the issues
Put a personal face on the important issues that affect us
Equality Fairfax will make sure we meet with each of the delegates and senators for Fairfax County. But, without constituents from the actual districts we can’t drive the point home – that’s why we need everyone to attend! It’s important that your delegate and senator know that YOU are from their district – they represent you, and you’re making your voice heard. It’s an easy but important process.
Mark your calendars and make appropriate preparations to take off work so you can join us for this crucial day of the year. We’ll update with more information as the date gets closer.
Registration is now open for Lobby Day! Sign up here.
It’s that time again! Equality Fairfax is hosting a holiday happy hour December 9th at Uno’s in Merrifield (just off Route 50 and Gallows Road). We’ll be there from 6pm to 8:30pm. Come join us for some holiday fun as the season kicks off. This will be our last happy hour for the year so don’t miss it!
